Improve the contour and firmness of your thighs.
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the inner and/or outer thighs. This procedure not only enhances the appearance of your legs but can also reduce chafing and improve comfort during movement.
While a thigh lift can significantly improve the contour and firmness of the thighs, it's important to note that it is not intended to eliminate cellulite entirely. Some improvement in skin texture may occur, but dimpling and unevenness caused by cellulite can still remain. Dr. Howley will discuss realistic outcomes during your consultation.
Inner Thigh Lift: Addresses loose skin on the inner thighs with an incision in the groin area that may extend down the inner thigh.
Outer Thigh Lift: Targets the outer thigh and may be combined with a body lift for comprehensive lower body contouring.
Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 2-3 hours. The incision pattern depends on the amount and location of excess skin. Dr. Howley removes excess skin, tightens underlying tissue, and re-drapes the remaining skin for a smoother contour.
Initial recovery takes 2-4 weeks, with most patients returning to work within 2-3 weeks. Compression garments are worn for several weeks to minimize swelling. Full recovery, including return to strenuous activities, typically takes 6-8 weeks.
Scars are typically placed in the groin crease where they can be hidden by underwear. For more extensive lifts, scars may extend down the inner thigh. Dr. Howley uses techniques to minimize scar visibility.
A thigh lift removes excess skin and improves contour but is not designed to eliminate cellulite. Some improvement may occur, but cellulite dimpling can persist after surgery.
Yes, thigh lifts are often combined with liposuction, tummy tucks, or arm lifts as part of a comprehensive body contouring plan, especially after significant weight loss.
